Newsletter 2023 Quarter 2

Spoken 2023

Review our newsletter from the second quarter of 2023.

This quarter emphasizes the growing impact of spreading the Word through oral Bible translation and the role it plays in reaching oral learners worldwide. In many of the regions Spoken serves, communication is rooted in storytelling, conversation, and shared experiences. Through spoken word Scripture and oral Bible reading, communities are engaging with the gospel in ways that are natural, memorable, and easily shared with others.

A key focus this season has been the importance of contextualizing Bible and translation efforts for oral cultures. While there are many different Bible translations available globally, they are often designed for literate audiences. Spoken’s approach to oral Bible translations ensures that biblical translations are communicated in formats that align with how people learn—through listening, repetition, and community interaction.

This quarter also highlights the value of equipping local leaders. Through intentional training and discipleship, pastors and believers are learning to guide discussions, share stories from Scripture, and lead others using orality-based methods. These leaders are essential to sustainable ministry, as they understand their communities and can effectively communicate the message of Christ through spoken word.

As we continue forward, the need for accessible Scripture remains great. Through ongoing partnership and innovation, Spoken is advancing oral Bible translation and spoken word ministry, helping ensure that more people can hear, understand, and respond to God’s Word.
