Newsletter 2025 Quarter 1: In the first issue of 2025, we introduce you to the unreached Vinta people and share how Spoken Worldwide is working to bring them access to God’s Word through oral Bible translation and spoken word Scripture. This edition marks the beginning of a new year of ministry among oral learners who have been waiting generations to hear the gospel in forms they can truly understand and share with others.
The Vinta people represent one of the thousands of unreached language groups where orality—not literacy—is the primary mode of learning and communication. Without oral Bible translation initiatives specifically designed for their culture, the Vinta have remained largely isolated from the transformative power of Scripture. Traditional written Bible translations, no matter how accurate, cannot reach communities whose cultural DNA is built on listening, storytelling, and spoken word transmission of knowledge.
This newsletter provides an in-depth look at the Vinta project, including the cultural and linguistic challenges unique to their community, the partnerships Spoken has formed with local churches and indigenous leaders, and the steps being taken to develop audio Scripture and orality-based discipleship tools that will allow the gospel to spread naturally within Vinta networks. You’ll also find updates on other active oral Bible translation projects, prayer requests for communities being engaged with the Word of God for the first time, and opportunities to partner financially with this mission.
As we step into 2025, the Vinta people remind us why this work matters: every person, regardless of literacy level or location, deserves to encounter Jesus through Scripture they can hear, comprehend, and pass on to the next generation.
