Spring 2025: Reaching Mbule and Beyond

Read our newsletter from quarter 2 of 2025 to discover how God is working among the people of Mbule in Cameroon and other oral communities around the world. This edition features the remarkable story of bringing oral Bible translation to Mbule, along with updates on how Spoken Worldwide continues spreading the Word of God through orality, audio Scripture, and spoken word discipleship methods designed specifically for oral learners.

The Mbule people of Cameroon represent the heart of what Spoken does. For generations, this community has relied on oral communication to pass down history, culture, and wisdom. Without access to Scripture in forms they could engage with, the gospel remained distant—heard about but never truly encountered. This quarter marked a turning point as indigenous leaders completed training in oral Bible storytelling and began sharing God’s Word in the natural communication patterns of their own people.

This newsletter includes firsthand accounts from the Mbule project, showing how spoken word Scripture is transforming lives and sparking discipleship movements that are reproducible, sustainable, and rooted in local ownership rather than dependency on outside resources. You’ll also find updates on other active oral Bible translation projects across Africa and Asia, prayer requests for communities currently being engaged with the gospel, and opportunities to partner with Spoken through financial support and intercession.

The work in Mbule is just one example of what becomes possible when oral learners finally have access to God’s Word in the spoken forms they can truly understand and share with others. Every translation project depends on faithful partners who believe that all people deserve to hear the gospel in their heart language.
