Our Work

What Does Spoken Do?

Spoken is a ministry dedicated to making the Bible accessible to people who can’t, don’t, or won’t read. These oral learners often live in remote, hard to reach areas of the world, and are often overlooked by traditional missions. Spoken Worldwide strives to break down barriers to Scripture access, ensuring that ALL may hear and understand the Word of God. We accomplish this through three initiatives: Oral Bible Translation, Pastor Development, and Orality Coaching.

Mission

Deliver Truth… where written words can’t go.

Vision

We serve the non-reader in underserved communities around the world. Our vision is to create equal access to God’s Word for people who cannot read – because readers and non-readers alike are valued equally in God’s Kingdom. We communicate God’s Word using orality methods– to reach, disciple, and ultimately transform individuals and entire communities.

Oral Bible Translation

Oral Bible Translation (OBT) is an exciting breakthrough in missions, blending innovative Orality methodology with time-honored Bible Translation principles. OBT seeks to capture the essence of every Scripture passage and share it naturally with oral learning communities – using the expressions they know and love. As with all of Spoken’s programs, our OBT team collaborates closely with local community partners and indigenous leaders to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.

Pastor Development

Spoken Worldwide’s vision is a journey towards creating lasting impact in the local communities we serve and minister. We believe that true transformation requires sustainability; without it, our efforts would fade, and the progress in sharing the Word with non-believers would come to a halt. Our Pastor Development Program (PDP) is a vital initiative at the heart of our sustainability goals, equipping indigenous pastors and lay leaders with the skills and resources they need to continue spreading the gospel long after our initial work is complete.

Orality Coaching

In our efforts to fulfill the Great Commission with a sense of urgency, the Spoken Worldwide Orality Coaching Program (OCP) establishes purposeful partnerships with both US-based and indigenous churches. Spoken also partners with organizations that desire to minister to the two-thirds of the world that does not read. Our role is that of a supporting partner, where we provide Orality training and the mentoring needed for these local partners to serve as the primary contact with their communities, while employing the learned practice of Orality to share the gospel with oral learners.
